PENNSYLVANIA – Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman on Tuesday met with advocates from Planned Parenthood of Pennsylvania to discuss access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. The group discussed the repercussions of the Dobbs decision, shared their personal experiences with abortion, and asked Senator to continue fighting to protect abortion access both in PA and nationwide.
Senator Fetterman has always been a staunch advocate for women’s rights, and he vowed at the meeting to continue fighting for abortion rights – both in Pennsylvania and across the United States. “I am grateful to those who shared their stories and for the opportunity to discuss the current state of abortion rights in Pennsylvania and our country. I promise to always fight for women’s reproductive freedom and will continue the important work here in D.C. to codify abortion rights into federal law,” said Senator Fetterman.
This month marked what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case that protected the right to abortion. In the seven months since the Supreme Court overturned Roe, several states have implemented restrictions or outright bans on abortion, significantly reducing access to reproductive care.
During his campaign, Senator Fetterman vowed that women’s reproductive freedom was “non-negotiable” and his meeting with Planned Parenthood demonstrates his commitment to fighting for that right.
