Yesterday, Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senator John Fetterman had the opportunity to meet with Julie Su, the nominee for Secretary of Labor. Beyond discussing her nomination, they covered ways to safeguard workers’ rights and fair labor conditions in Pennsylvania, as well as on a wider scale throughout the country.

“We need a Secretary of Labor who will fight for workers. It was an honor to meet with Acting Labor Secretary Su. I know she is the labor ally we need in this position. I will be voting YES on her confirmation, and I urge all my colleagues to do the same,” said Senator Fetterman.

Su has an impressive track record of advocating for workers’ rights and fighting for the rights of working people across California and beyond. She served as the Secretary of California’s State Department of Labor from 2011 to 2018 and has been recently confirmed as the Deputy Secretary of Labor in 2021. Her passion for labor rights and her extensive experience make her an exceptional leader who will undoubtedly continue to make positive changes in the lives of working people.

Su’s nomination to serve as Cabinet secretary in President Biden’s administration took a step closer to approval last week when the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee reported it favorably to the Senate. If confirmed, Su would make history as the first Asian American Cabinet secretary in this administration.
