Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) voted to suspend the U.S. debt limit until January 2025 with H.R. 3746, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, citing necessary action to prevent economic collapse and a commitment to work with colleagues to prevent future issues.

“Yesterday, I voted YES on H.R. 3746, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. I voted in favor of this bipartisan compromise to raise the debt ceiling because it was necessary to save our country from default and potential economic collapse,” said Houlahan.

“I think we can all agree that this brinksmanship is no way to operate and is a disservice to our constituents who want us to solve problems, not create or exacerbate them. I am eager to work with colleagues to create mechanisms to prevent this from happening again.”
