WEST CHESTER, PA — State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, today that Justice Rain Inc. will receive $25,000 in state funding for its housing and addiction rehabilitation center, Havilah House, located in West Chester.
Justice Rain is an organization in Chester County that provides addiction support services, mental health counseling and holistic education classes, as well as educational resources on racial inequality.
“I’m proud to help with this grant funding,” Pielli said. “The Havilah House is more than just a place to sleep at night; it’s where people work together to build the foundation for a strong and long-lasting sober life. As a past correctional officer and public defender, I have seen how hard it is for those recovering from serious addiction issues, often mothers, to obtain stable employment and housing.
“Havilah House helps these women help themselves as they recover in a nurturing and supportive environment, while working toward the goal of becoming active and participating members of our community. I firmly support their mission of compassion, transformational development and patient advocacy.”
“As mayor, I am grateful to have in the 156th District such a good state representative as Chris Pielli,” said West Chester Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste. “He represents our core values of caring for the entire community. The grant given to Havilah House will be a game changer for them. Justice Rain has created this beautiful sober living home to support, nurture and shelter women as they reenter life and work. This grant will give them the financial stability needed to continue their volunteer-based good works.”
“This grant will assure Justice Rain continues our addiction recovery program that allows women in Chester County access to the resources they need to successfully achieve their goals of recovery from addiction, while reintegrating into traditional social and work-life environments,” said James Bady, Justice Rain Inc. executive director. “We look forward to continuing our work.”
The Havilah House offers life-changing services for the people of Chester County by providing shelter and rehabilitation for women suffering from addiction and housing insecurity. Pennsylvania is currently facing a tremendous addiction and housing accessibility crisis, Pielli said, so it is crucial to support lifesaving programs that protect family, friends and neighbors and strengthen communities. It is important to sustain reliable safeguards for those struggling, he added.
The Havilah House offers a holistic rehabilitation process by providing not only affordable housing and rehabilitative care for addiction, but also a variety of educational services. They include stress management, family planning and fiscal responsibility.
