HARRISBURG, PA — State Rep. Dan Williams, D-Chester, announced that the fire and emergency medical services companies in the 74th District have been awarded $119,400 through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
“So many of us take for granted the fact that if a fire breaks out or if we have a medical emergency, help is there,” Williams said. “Our fire and EMS companies throughout the pandemic have been there for us, despite increased personal risk due to the virus and tough financial circumstances. I am grateful to help these heroes receive the funding they need so they can continue providing these critical services to our communities.”
The fire and EMS companies in the 74th District that have been awarded grants in the following amounts are:
- City of Coatesville Bureau of Fire – $11,100
- Minquas Fire Co. No. 2 Inc. – $23,325
- Modena Fire Co. No. 1 – $23,325
- Sadsburyville Fire Co. – $15,000
- Thorndale Fire Co. – $15,000
- Washington Hose Co. No. 1 – $8,325
- Westwood Fire Co. – $23,325
“Fire companies and emergency medical services companies throughout the commonwealth continue to deal the negative impacts the COVID-19 pandemic,” Acting State Fire Commissioner Thomas Cook said. “Increased call volume, rising costs, and revenue loss have each made operations more difficult for our first responders. As such, our office is pleased to help get financial assistance into communities across the state.”
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner and makes an annual grant program available for volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads.
All fire companies, emergency medical services, and volunteer rescue squads are eligible to apply for this annual grant program.
