PARKESBURG, PA — On Sunday morning, a devastating fire destroyed three duplex units in the 100 block of Washington Street at North Church Street in Parkesburg Borough, reports 6abc.

At approximately 2:50 am, a 911 caller reported seeing flames coming out of the back of one of the homes. The fire quickly spread to two neighboring units and 75 firefighters were needed to contain it. One firefighter suffered minor injuries when he was briefly trapped inside the home but no other injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is helping 22 displaced residents at the Parkesburg Borough Hall and officials are asking for donations of gift cards from local grocery stores.
