COATESVILLE, PA — In a Wednesday night tweet, Marillyn Hewson, chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin, announced the decision to keep the Sikorsky helicopter plant in Coatesville, Pennsylvania open, following a conversation with President Donald Trump.
The decision came more than a month after Lockheed Martin informed their 465 Coatesville employees that the facility would be closing by year-end. The plan was to relocate production and many of the impacted employees.
Hewson stated, “At the request of President Trump, I took another look at our decision to close the Coatesville, PA facility and have decided to keep it open while we pursue additional work. It is a good operation with an excellent workforce. We look forward to working with the government and PA Congressional delegation to find more work for this facility.”

Trump responded with his appreciation, stating “We are very proud of Pennsylvania and the people who work there” and described Lockheed Martin as “one of the USA’s truly great companies”.
