Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation Announces $100,000 Scholarship Program for Resident Students

MALVERN, PA — The Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Balfour Beatty Communities, has opened applications for its 2024/2025 academic scholarship program. The foundation plans to award over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students residing in Balfour Beatty Communities-owned and managed military, student housing, or multifamily communities.

“This scholarship program reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the academic aspirations of our residents and investing in their education as future leaders,” said Leslie Cohn, a member of the Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation Board of Directors.

The scholarships are intended to reduce the financial burden of post-secondary education for residents and to recognize outstanding achievement. They are awarded based on a combination of academic performance, community service, involvement in extracurricular activities, and financial need.

To be eligible, applicants must live in a Balfour Beatty Communities property, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, participate in extracurricular activities, and plan to attend an accredited college or trade school during the 2024/2025 academic year.

In addition to meeting these criteria, applicants must submit an essay outlining their aspirations and goals, and explaining how the scholarship will contribute to their educational journey. This requirement gives students an opportunity to make a personal case for why they deserve the scholarship, beyond their academic and extracurricular achievements.

Since 2009, the foundation has awarded more than 700 scholarships, totaling over $1.5 million, to assist deserving students in their pursuit of post-secondary education. This record of support underscores the foundation’s commitment to fostering education within the communities it serves.

The announcement of this year’s scholarship program is a significant opportunity for resident students. As the cost of higher education continues to rise, scholarships like these can play a crucial role in making college or trade school more accessible and affordable.
