How Chester County Businesses Can Outsell Amazon and Online Retailers

There is little doubt that Chester County businesses are struggling to compete with Amazon and other online retailers, especially in smaller, more rural communities like Parkesburg. Roughly 25 years ago, the first wave of attacks came from Walmart and the big-box stores. However, mom-and-pop retailers and other Chester County businesses were really hit hard when Amazon and online retailers became part of the mainstream.  West Chester’s QVC aside, I’m sure many smaller, local companies will come to mind. Nevertheless, Chester County businesses can win the online retail wars and outsell Amazon and the online retailers.

Every company, regardless of size, must consider and accept how online is impacting business. As a result, having a strong online presence will influence future growth. Moreover, if you believe this is just an issue for retailers, you are sadly mistaken. Today, consumers are going online to examine reviews, get business recommendations from friends and family, and will evaluate professionalism and behavior. Therefore, even the oldest and most established Chester County businesses can’t rest on their achievements. Without an effective online strategy, future performance and growth are not guaranteed.

Still, Chester County’s small retailers have some major challenges. Amazon and other online retailers are selling products and services for much less, and they tend to be more convenient and will feed the consumer’s need for instant gratification. In fact, consumer data suggest you likely do this yourself. At work, home or school, something sparks an internet user’s interest. They will then grab their smartphone and search for “where can I buy” or “how can I”. Instantly, the searcher finds the best price, buys it, and discovers their purchase on their doorstep the next day. In some instances,  the buyer can even pick it up or have it delivered the same day. Yet, Chester County businesses do have advantages they can exploit. Today’s article will explore current trends and data, and will introduce important online strategies that will help Chester County businesses win the online sales war.
