WEST CHESTER, PA — In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic in downtown West Chester, Iron Hill Brewery has teamed up with the event’s title sponsor, Benchmark Federal Credit Union, to brew a collaboration beer called “Feel the Rush.”
690 lbs. of grain were shoveled out of Iron Hill’s 10-foot-tall mash tun on Monday to begin the brew. There was also a ceremonial ringing of the official Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic cowbells as the first hops were tossed into the brew. Cowbells are a signature feature at the Benchmark Twilight Classic, as thousands of race fans ring the bells while cheering on their favorite pro cyclists during this free, twilight pro cycling event through the cobblestoned streets of downtown West Chester. Benchmark Federal Credit Union will be giving out free cowbells for race fans, while supplies last, beginning at 4pm on August 10th at Benchmark’s tent inside the event’s Chester County Hospital Community Festival.
Included on the brew crew were Daniel J. Machon, Jr., President and CEO of Benchmark Federal Credit Union, which has been the title sponsor of the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic for the past 3 years; Kevin Finn, Chairman of the Board at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, sponsor of the Pro Men’s Criterium; Mark Yoder, President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and organizer of the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic.
“Feel the Rush” beer is a Hazy NEIPA with citrus and tropical fruit aromas upfront with a subtle flavor of fresh grapes. It will be ready in time for the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic August 10, 2019 in downtown West Chester.

Now entering its fifteenth year, the 2019 edition of the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic, sponsored by Benchmark Federal Credit Union, will find West Chester, PA, once again pulling out all the stops. Taking place on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, family-friendly activities fill the side streets before the sun goes down, and professional cyclists race full-throttle through downtown West Chester on a challenging .6-mile course covering eight city blocks. This year’s Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic will again be free to the public and is also the final race of the USA CRITS Championship Series, making it the last opportunity for riders to improve or hold on to their standing before the Finals in September.
“Over the last decade and a half, this iconic race continues to attract almost 20,000 people from all over the region to downtown West Chester, creating solid economic impact and positive image enhancement for the borough,” said Mark Yoder, President and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, the organizing body of the event.
