In addition to the rink’s panoramic views of the Philadelphia waterfront and city skyline, it features a heated indoor reception area, food concessions, a game area and a video wall. For first-time skaters or those looking to improve their skills, the RiverRink offers lessons on Sunday mornings during January and February. The rink will open for the 2019-2020 season on Nov. 30, 2019.

Snow Tubing – AvalancheXpress at Heritage Hills Resort
Located at the first-class Heritage Hills Resort in York, AvalancheXpress is central Pennsylvania’s premier snow tubing Terrain Park. With multiple downhill runs including extreme, intermediate and family lanes, there’s something for everyone at the facility. For added convenience, two powered rope lines tow tubers to the hilltop, and high-intensity, full-flooding lighting illuminates the park after dusk. In the winter, a seven-acre groomed slope on the western side of Chapman State Park is kept lit until 10 p.m. daily. Also, on the western side of the park is a warming hut with a wood-burning stove and benches for guests to escape the cold.

Luge – Blue Mountain Ski Area
Blue Mountain Ski Area in the Pocono Mountains is home to the only natural East Coast USA Luge track, open to the public and boasting the state’s highest vertical. With twists, turns and more than 400,000 cubic feet of snow, you’ll feel the wind on your face and your heart race as you plunge down an almost 2,000-foot-long course. Riders can choose to hop on a tube, mini-bobsled or a luge sled.

Iceboating – Pymatuning Lake and State Park
The cold weather doesn’t bring an end to enjoying Pymatuning Lake and Pymatuning State Park. Visitors are permitted to iceboat anywhere on the lake and can partake in a variety of other cold-weather sports in the area. Jamestown Marina maintains a winter concession where visitors can buy refreshments and rent ice skates or cross-country skis.
