WEST CHESTER, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), a nonprofit organization of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is hosting its first ever “Season of Giving” virtual event on Thursday, December 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This free event, which is a family-friendly kick-off to the holiday season for all ages, will be a live streaming event and feature familiar faces from YMCA locations, performances and the chance to win some great prizes.
“COVID-19 has presented many challenges for our entire organization, including the inability to gather together large groups of people in-person to celebrate the Y. We are bringing the Y to your home free of charge so that all in our community can tune in and feel connected again,” explained Patti Campbell, Vice President of Mission Advancement at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
In addition to the one-hour live stream taking place on December 10, YGBW is holding a virtual auction that opens one week prior to get the community excited about the virtual live stream. Individuals can bid electronically on items, purchase raffle tickets and even donate from the comfort of their own homes.
“Like many organizations, we’ve been forced to think outside of the box when it comes to events and how we can offer quality engagement to our community,” said Denise Day, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. “We want people to know we are thinking of them and that the Y is still here to support everyone in our community.”
Right now, individuals and families can register for the event by simply providing their email address at the webpage below, in addition to purchasing raffle tickets and limited edition YGBW t-shirts with the famous “Life is Good” brand. YGBW created this t-shirt through an exclusive partnership with Life is Good®.
Key dates to remember:
- Thursday, December 3rd at noon– virtual auction opens
- Thursday, December 10th at 6:30 pm– virtual live-stream event takes place (those who register will receive further instructions on how to access the event as the date gets closer)
