Dunkin’ and Red Cross Team Up to Celebrate National Blood Donor Month

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — January is National Blood Donor Month, a time to recognize the importance of giving blood and platelets while honoring those who roll up a sleeve to help patients in need. To celebrate, Dunkin’ in Greater Philadelphia is partnering with the American Red Cross to provide 27,500 vouchers for Red Cross blood and platelet donors in the region.

Throughout the month of January, presenting donors will receive a voucher for a free medium Hot Coffee and a free classic donut, redeemable at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia Region, while supplies last. The vouchers are not redeemable for cash.

The winter months can be especially difficult to collect enough blood and platelets to meet patient needs. Inclement weather can result in blood drive cancellations and seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can prevent some donors from making or keeping appointments to give. Blood donors with all blood types are encouraged to make an appointment to give.

“It only takes an hour – two if you’re giving platelets – to be a lifesaver,” said Garrett Reid, director of donor recruitment, Red Cross Penn Jersey Blood Services Region. “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Dunkin’ in Greater Philadelphia and to thank our donors with a special gift this January.”

To schedule an appointment to donate, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org.

“Dunkin’ is honored to once again team up with the American Red Cross to reward deserving blood donors this January,” said Jessica Weissman, Integrated Marketing Manager, Dunkin’ Brands. “We hope that by offering donors a free medium Hot Coffee and donut, Dunkin’ will help encourage the Philadelphia community to stop by a local blood donation center and donate to those in need.”
