Discover Pennsylvanian’s Most Spectacular Public Gardens in 2023!

America is home to some of the most spectacular public gardens in the world, and now you can explore them in 2023! Good Plant Care recently polled 3,000 people and revealed the top 200 public gardens they would most like to visit in their lifetimes. At number 16 on the list is The Wildflower and Native Plant Gardens at the Brandywine Museum of Art. This living representation of the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art’s initiative to connect art + environment has become a must-see destination for tourists and locals alike.

Brandywine Wildflower and Native Plant Gardens

The Brandywine Wildflower and Native Plant Gardens are a special attraction situated on U.S. Route 1 beside the picturesque Brandywine Creek in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Established in 1974, these gardens were designed by F. M. Mooberry with the intention of being representative of the greater Brandywine region. This living museum features over 600 species of native and some naturalized plants of the area, allowing visitors to explore the diversity of flora unique to this part of the world. Visitors have the opportunity to stroll along accessible paths while gazing at an array of diverse plants, making a stop at one of several picture hideaways or seating areas located throughout the gardens.

The Allentown Rose Gardens ranked #38 on the list while Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square came in at #50. Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens in Devon was ranked #120 and Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh came in at #123. The top 3 public gardens were all located in Hawaii: Koko Crater Botanical Garden took first place, followed by Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden (Big Island) at second place, and Wahiawa Botanical Garden came in third.

Allentown Rose Gardens
