Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker to Be Replaced by Lucifer Morningstar?

Doctor Who Lucifer Morningstar

Doctor Who viewers have been busing imagining who will take over from Jody Whitaker as The Doctor. Could it be Tom Ellis, the Welsh actor known for playing Lucifer Morningstar in the Netflix fantasy series Lucifer and during an appearance on The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover in the Arrowverse franchise?

Ever since Jody Whitaker, the Doctor Who actress, confirmed she will be surrounding the keys to the TARDIS, fans have been theorizing who will be next to play The Doctor.  Whitaker’s last appearance as the face-changing, gender-swapping Time Lord is set to air in a special later this year.

Regardless, Doctor Who has existed since 1963 on television and in film, books, audio dramas, and video games. However, since Jody Whitaker took over the iconic role, the show has suffered a historic drop in viewership.

Having his breakout role as Gary Preston on the BBC One sitcom Miranda, and as the popular Lucifer Morningstar in the Netflix series Lucifer, based on DC Comics’ publication and character of the same name, Ellis could have the ability to breathe new life into the British science fiction television program.

Of course, the BBC has yet to make an announcement. Additionally, Jodie Whittaker recently revealed she has filmed her regeneration scene for Doctor Who, leaving some to speculate that her replacement may be left as a cliffhanger.
