Wayne Oratorio Society Presents Handel’s Messiah

WAYNE, PA — The Wayne Oratorio Society: A Ministry of Wayne Presbyterian Church, announced it will be presenting its annual concert for the Christmas season of George Frederic Handel’s Messiah on December 3 and 4 at 7:30 PM at the Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, PA. The concert will be presented in the Sanctuary with John Grecia conducting the 100+ singers, with a 30-piece professional orchestra, and soloists.

Messiah, written in 1741, expresses the power of Handel’s imagination, wealth of ideas, depth of inspiration, and the variety of invention that continue to astonish today,” says Grecia, who is the WOS Interim Director.

Soloists for the performance are:

  • Melanie Sarakatsannis, lyric soprano;
  • David Price, tenor;
  • Kerry Ann Erickson-Felps, contralto; and
  • Mark Hightower, bass.

The concert is non-ticketed, and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Society. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Early arrival for best parking and seating is advised.

The Wayne Oratorio Society has been a part of the ministry of the Wayne Presbyterian Church for nearly 75 years. It has been cited as “an important arts organization and ministry.”

PARKING, AND TRAVEL VIA SEPTA
Wayne Presbyterian Church is located in downtown Wayne at 125 E. Lancaster Avenue, at the northeast corner of Lancaster and North Wayne Avenues. The church is adjacent to the SEPTA Wayne station stop, with free parking in the surrounding area. There is an entrance to the church from the parking areas, located behind the church, off North Wayne Avenue, or from the front church entrance on Lancaster Avenue.
