WEST CHESTER, PA — The Brandywine Singers will present two performances of James Whitbourn’s Annelies on Sunday, January 22nd at 4:00 PM at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Wilmington, and Saturday, January 28th at 7:00 PM at Kesher Israel Congregation in West Chester. These performances will correspond with the recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day of commemoration designated to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism.

Annelies is a 75-minute chamber choral work for soprano soloist, choir, and instrumentalists. The libretto is compiled and translated by Melanie Challenger from The Diary of Anne Frank. “Annelies” is the full forename of Anne Frank, now commonly referred to by her abbreviated forename. The piece is a heartbreakingly intimate work about which Choir and Organ Magazine said, “Whitbourn’s devastatingly beautiful and restrained treatment of the subject makes it all the more poignant.”

Performances will take place on Sunday, January 22nd at 4:00 PM at Christ Church Christiana Hundred (505 Buck Road, Wilmington, DE), and Saturday, January 28th at 7:00 PM at Kesher Israel Congregation (1000 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, PA). Tickets are $25 and are available on The Brandywine Singers website (thebrandywinesingers.org), or at the door.
