Longwood Gardens Announces 2022 Summer Performance Series

KENNETT SQUARE, PALongwood Gardens has announced its summer concert lineup, which includes iconic singer-songwriters Emmylou Harris and Mary Chapin Carpenter, Grammy-award-winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, and Season 21 winners of The Voice, all performing in the splendor of the historic Open Air Theatre. The season kicks off with the return of the Wine & Jazz Festival on June 4, with a Wine & Jazz All Stars performance the evening of June 3.

Under the direction of Michael Hall, the Kennett Symphony performs selections perfect for a night under the stars. The performance includes The Lark Ascending, by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958), which was inspired by the 1881 poem of the same and portrays nostalgia for a simpler time, featuring Kennett Symphony Instrumental Competition Winner Kristy Chen on violin. The program also includes selections from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and John Williams’ legendary score from Star Wars.
