Iconic Jazz and R&B Musician Marcus Miller Comes to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Two-time Grammy Award-winning producer and iconic jazz and R&B musician Marcus Miller is coming to Philadelphia. The bassist, composer and multi-instrumentalist will perform at Rivers Casino Philadelphia on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 8 p.m. Tickets for The Event Center performance start at $29 and go on sale Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m.

With dozens of movie scores and a long list of accolades, including UNESCO Artist for Peace, Miller has recording and performing credits spanning 40 years. He won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 1992 for Luther Vandross’ “Power of Love,” and in 2001 he won for Best Contemporary Jazz Album for “M²” — his seventh solo instrumental album.

As a member of the board of directors for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, Miller is a revered figure in the music industry who has contributed to numerous projects. The list includes creating and producing the Lift Every Voice GOTV event in 2020 and contributing to UNESCO’s United Against Racism video.

Considered one of the premier electric bassists, Miller has recorded more than 500 albums and has performed with musical legends such as Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin and Herbie Hancock.
