DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Chester County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) announced their Fall Concert – Orchestral Favorites. Under the direction of Mrs. Katrina Kelly and Mr. Mark Cellini, a diverse selection of music will include: Overture to The Barber of Seville, the Peer Gynt Suite, Night on Bald Mountain, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
The concert will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Church of the Good Samaritan (212 W. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301). This concert will benefit the mission and work of the West Chester Senior Center. In lieu of tickets, guests are asked to bring either financial gifts or grocery store gift cards to benefit the senior center.
CCYO provides an opportunity for students in grades 6-12 to experience the joy of making music with a full symphony orchestra and allows them to meet fellow musicians from school districts across Chester County and nearby areas.
The orchestra is dedicated to giving young musicians the chance to grow musically by performing challenging works from the standard orchestral literature, as well as music from the cinema and the Broadway Stage.
These talented students hone their performance skills and learn a wide variety of music. As members of the CCYO, students gain experience playing music of many different composers, styles and time periods.
CCYO is consistently seeking musically talented students from the ages of 11 to 18 and invites those interested to audition. Audition dates for all instruments will be posted on CCYO’s website. For those looking to financially partner with the orchestra, gifts of any amount are appreciated and can be sent to CCYO at P.O. Box 560, Downingtown, PA 19335.
