CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Thousands of fans from across the nation are converging on Chester County’s Brandywine Valley next weekend for the second annual Citadel Country Spirit USA, a great American country music festival, being held Aug. 23 to 25.
Last year, the festival attracted 22,000 from 28 states and two Canadian provinces. The inaugural event earned rave reviews, and event producers have set out to make the 2019 festival even better. Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Grounds, less than an hour from Philadelphia in a scenic, countryside rolling hills setting, is being transformed into a five-acre country music mecca.
The festival features more than 20 artists on two stages. The main stage lineup includes headliner Billy Currington on Friday, Little Big Town on Saturday and Old Dominion on Sunday, plus big names such as Lee Brice, Lauren Alaina, Brothers Osborne and Eli Young Band.
Garrett Shultz of York, Jackie Verna of West Chester and Aubrey Rey of Collegeville, winners of the Citadel Rising Star Contest, perform between main stage acts on the Citadel Rising Star Stage.
It’s a weekend-long music, food, libations and fundraising experience. A portion of proceeds benefits CHOP, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. $100,000 was raised last year. Mechanical bull riding benefits Chester County Hero Fund. Crown Royal’s Purple Bag Project supports overseas troops.
