Five Spectacular Fall Events Happening in Chester County

Chester County is located in the countryside of Philadelphia and comes with all the beautiful scenery you would expect. Here are five fall events and activities happening in Chester County.

West Chester Fall Foliage Express

The Chester Creek Valley is beautiful, and all the autumn leaves make it incredibly picturesque. Join the West Chester Fall Foliage Express and enjoy a 90-minute train ride where you can take in the lovely views of the Valley. This journey will take you back in time to the village of Glen Mills and back to the station. No need to worry about the cold either, as the train is heated.

This fun journey takes place several weekends over the fall. Check it out on the following dates:

  • Oct 3, 10, 17
  • Nov 7

The train will depart at both noon and 2:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $20 and children ages two to twelve are $18. Any children under two ride free. You will start your journey at the West Chester Railroad, located at:

Longwood Gardens’ Autumn Colors

Autumn is a wonderful time for observing flowers and the falling leaves. Take some time to enjoy the beauty of Longwood Gardens. You can surround yourself with painted landscapes and enjoy wide-open vistas. If you enjoy trains, you can check out the Garden Railway, where you can see a showcase of dozens of locomotives, steam engines, diesel engines, and specialty engines.

The Autumn Colors program runs from October 16-November 14th. Then, starting on October 26, you can partake in the Chrysanthemum Festival, where the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum is placed in the sun within a Conservatory setting of tended chrysanthemums and other blooming delights.

Kennett Underground Railroad Bus Tour

Run by a friendly and knowledgeable local tour guide, this bus tour will take you on a trip to visit documented Underground Railroad sites, historic homes, and Quaker Meetinghouses. While on the trip, you will learn about local abolitionists and anti-slavery activity in the Kennett Square area. On top of this, you will see the contributions of local African Americans and their faith communities in their quest for freedom from slavery.

This event will happen on October 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will cost you $23, and you will meet at the Kennett Underground Railroad Center at this address:

Longwood Gardens Fireworks and Fountains Show

If you enjoy Rock N Roll and fireworks, the Longwood Gardens Fireworks and Fountains Show is a great fit for you. During this show, you will see fireworks soar and fountains dance. Music sets the tone of the evening, and wonder will fill the sky above you.

While you enjoy the fireworks, you will be treated to the sounds of The Rolling Stones as a tribute to the band.

Check out the show on Saturday, October 23, at 8:15 p.m. Tickets go on sale starting September 14, at 10:00 a.m. It takes place at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Historic Yellow Springs-Fine Arts and Craft Show 2021

If you are a fan of crafts or art, the Historic Yellow Springs Fine Arts and Craft Show is the spot to be. This fun show will bring together more than thirty contemporary fine craft artists from across Pennsylvania. They will exhibit and sell their work at the show.

The show will be held from November 12-14, 2021. It is presented at the Historic Yellow Springs and showcases the region’s finest craft artists. This makes it a holiday shoppers paradise.
