Malvern Celebrates Local Equestrian Heritage with Derby Days

King Street Merchants Join Together for Hat Contest, Scavenger Hunt, Family Fun Day & Evening Out

MALVERN, PA — The town of Malvern salutes the historic equestrian traditions of Chester County with Malvern Derby Days June 3rd and June 5th throughout the borough with Grand Prix and Family Fun Day.

On June 3rd from 5-7 pm for the Grand Prix Night get dressed up and don your hat while participating in the Hat & Style Contest judged by celebrity stylist and Malvern local George Brescia, Caroline O’Halloran editor of Main Line Savvy and Jennaphr Frederick of Fox29. The hat contest starts at Campli Photography with a photo opportunity next door at Little Nest Photo.

The same evening attendees can enjoy a QR scavenger hunt across town. Winners of the hat contest and scavenger hunt will receive gift cards and products from Malvern businesses. Throughout town that evening, restaurants will have specials including complimentary drinks or desserts to enjoy if you participate in the evening by wearing a hat or showing a receipt from that evening from another participating business. Stores across King Street will be open late until 7 pm with trunk shows, sales, live music and more.

On June 5th from 12-2 pm, Malvern will be hosting a Family Fun Day. After the farmer’s market in town, head down to King Street and enjoy the streets lined with food trucks and fun activities for kids including balloon sculpture artists, caricature artists, hand painting (instead of face painting, to comply with Covid safety) and live music. Food trucks include Dia Doce, Zaikka Indian Grill, Sweet Thangs Nuts & Candy, Mama Meatball, Ship Me Crab Cakes and Woods Smokin’ BBQ. Stop in the shops for trunk shows, sales and various promotions and dine at Malvern’s restaurants.

As a contribution to the community many stores and restaurants that evening will be donating 10% during these two days to Bryn Mawr Hospital.
