Making Casual Fridays Count: Employees of Benchmark Federal Credit Union Wear Blue Jeans to Work to Benefit Chester County Families

WEST CHESTER, PA — Employees of Benchmark Federal Credit Union are making sure casual Fridays benefit their community.

Every Friday, Benchmark employees have the opportunity to wear jeans to work in exchange for a donation to a local nonprofit. The funds are donated annually, and this year the check for more than $2,000 was presented to the staff of Family Lives On Foundation. The nonprofit supports the lifelong emotional well-being of children whose mother or father has died by providing opportunities for intentional remembering and creating a safe haven for grief, communication and celebration.

“We became aware of Family Lives On Foundation during the employee voting process to determine which nonprofit will be our annual jeans donation recipient. We were so touched by the organization’s efforts that we decided to sponsor the Tot Trot during their upcoming 5k race fundraiser as well as their Traditions Ball,” says Daniel J. Machon, Jr., President and CEO of Benchmark Federal Credit Union. “As the only federal credit union to exclusively serve Chester County, we are committed to partnering with organizations that ensure the well-being of our community.”

Benchmark supports more than 20 community events and organizations each year, provides thousands of dollars annually in college scholarships to local students and offers a free, award-winning financial literacy curriculum in more than 60 public, private and parochial schools across Chester County. Benchmark is the title sponsor of West Chester’s iconic professional cycling event, the Benchmark Twilight Cycling Classic, which attracts thousands of pro racing fans to West Chester each year. In addition, Benchmark sponsors the Toyland Division of the QVC West Chester Christmas Parade and is the title sponsor of the annual Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference.
