Pottsgrove Manor – Collaborative Cooking with Marissa Nicosa 
Saturday, March 25, 2023, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – $2 suggested donation per person

Delve into historic hearth cooking, and follow on social media, as Pottsgrove Manor collaborates with rare cooking blogger, Marissa Nicosa. An assistant professor of English, Marissa is insatiably curious about weird pamphlets, recipe manuscripts, and archival oddities. But what do the household ledgers of Pottsgrove Manor reveal in the kitchen? Kick off the day by hearing Nicosa speak about her research and what historic manuscripts can teach cooks today. Fill your afternoon by seeing what creations are being made in the kitchen of Pottsgrove Manor. Come and find out at this engaging event and follow the progress all day with videos and posts on Pottsgrove Manor’s social media.

Peter Wentz Farmstead – Clara in a Time of War – Book Talk with Author C.J. McGroarty

It’s 1777, and Clara is struggling to keep her family together while her husband is away fighting in the American Revolution. Her life is thrown for a loop when a wounded and mysterious man shows up at her Chester County home. Join Peter Wentz Farmstead at Wentz’s United Church of Christ to meet local author C.J. McGroarty and hear the story behind her new novel, Clara in a Time of War. Copies of the book will be available for purchase to be signed by the author. Pennypacker Mills – Spring Craft Workshop for Kids

Let’s welcome spring in style! Kids are invited to Pennypacker Mills for to create spring-themed crafts. During the workshop, kids will paint a terracotta pot and create yarn flowers, a bouncy bumblebee, a paper wreath, and a 3-D Hoppy Spring card. This workshop takes place in the Classroom Building, just above the Pennypacker Mills mansion. Happy Arbor Day! Come to Pennypacker Mills to celebrate the importance of trees with lots of fun and educational activities. Visit the WoodMobile, a 34-foot trailer that travels throughout Pennsylvania teaching about forests with an interactive exhibit. See a hive box and hear Pennypacker Mills’ beekeeper talk about bees’ impact on trees. Learn how to identify trees with a Master Gardener. Make several themed crafts, including “Seed Bombs.” Walk the StoryWalk and read the children’s story “More Trees Please!” Take a tour of the Pennypacker mansion and learn about Governor Samuel Pennypacker’s impact on Pennsylvania forestry. All ages are welcome to visit the Mills for this free event!
