SALT Performing Arts Presents Newsies, November 30 – December 16, 2018

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — SALT Performing Arts presents Newsies, the popular Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit which inspires everyone to fight for what’s right and seize the day.  Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for social justice!

“Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score and book. You’ll leave the theatre singing the now classic songs Carrying the Banner, Seize the Day, and Santa Fe,” says Lauren McComas, Director and SALT’s President and Artistic Director.  “Our version of Newsies will knock your socks off with some of the best dancers and singers in the area. It’s a perfect holiday treat for the whole family!”
