PHILADELPHIA, PA — Just a year after delving into the Web3 space, renowned Philadelphia artist and former lawyer Dori Desautel Broudy is shaking up the NFT art world! Philadelphia’s Main Line resident is offering a curation of 1/1 original illustrations that will be presented for the first time in NFT form, but it’s how she’s doing it that’s changing the game. For the first time ever in the NFT (non-fungible token) world, Broudy is not collecting royalties: she’s offering her latest collection as both physical pieces and in NFT form; and she’s donating a significant portion of sales to charity.

“I’m doing things my own way — I’m following my instincts based on my prior experience as an attorney, and trying to impact as many people as possible in a good way,” she said. Dori’s first foray in the Web3 space — 17 unique pieces to raise funds for the Ukrainian crisis — sold out on OpenSea in just one month last year.

Dori’s latest collection “Lead with…”, consisting of five pieces, is a commentary on the various ways in which strong leadership is demonstrated. The works honor leading with advocacy, with

51% of net proceeds from the sale of each piece routed to three organizations offering a voice for those in need of representation: the Lawyering Project (lawyeringproject.org); PeaceWomen (Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom: peacewomen.org); and Everytown for Gun Safety (everytown.org). In order to maximize the impact through the initial sales transaction, Dori has chosen to abstain from collecting royalties in secondary sales for this collection.

In addition to enjoying sole ownership of the NFT, collectors will also have the option to purchase the original, physical version of Dori’s artwork — an option never before made available — in a subsequent transaction, and will also receive a diamond-cut, gallery-quality acrylic block conversion of the NFT image.

“It was important for me to generate enthusiasm and rebuild trust on this new platform, especially in light of recent scandals such as FTX.  Drawing from my legal background and role as a creator in the space, I’ve tried to minimize risk by setting clear parameters upfront, for example, and treating each NFT as an original work of art on the blockchain-as opposed to an investment to be traded as a security.”

The collection is being sold on Foundation, a decentralized, open-source blockchain. Prices are listed as Ether, the native cryptocurrency of the platform. It is second only to bitcoin in market capitalization. 1 ETH is equal to approximately $1,646.79 USD in today’s trading. The price range of the collection is roughly between $6,000 and $11,000.
