West Chester Area School District Named a 2020 Best Communities for Music Education

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Area School District has received a 2020 Best Communities for Music Education Award presented by The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

WCASD is one of 754 school districts recognized nationally by NAMM, and this year marks the fourth consecutive year the District has received the award.

Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

WCASD supports numerous performing ensembles in instrumental band, string orchestra, and chorus at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels.

There are seven district-wide “honors” ensembles for which students audition, rehearse, and perform at all three levels.

The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,400 members around the world.

The foundation advances active participation in music-making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs.
