Octorara Area School District Receives Game-Changing Grant for Safer Schools: What This Means for Students and Staff!

Grants

COATESVILLE, PA – The Octorara Area School District has been granted $73, 852 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This funding aims to create a safer and healthier learning environment for students and staff. Announced by state Representative Dan Williams, D-Chester, the allocation comes as part of a broader effort to improve educational facilities statewide.

The grant originates from the state’s Public School Environmental Repairs Program, a key component of the 2023-24 state budget, which Rep. Williams actively supported. This program provides crucial financial resources to address environmental hazards in school buildings, such as the removal of lead from water sources, paint, and the remediation of asbestos and mold.

Rep. Williams highlighted the importance of these improvements, emphasizing the need for clean and safe educational settings as a foundation for student success. He stated, “Children in the Octorara School District will be able to learn in a safer and healthier educational environment thanks to this funding brought to them by a Democratic budget.”

The program allocated a total of $75 million to 109 school districts and technical centers across Pennsylvania. Each project requires a 50% cash match from the recipient, ensuring shared investment in the health and safety of school environments. This grant represents a critical step toward safeguarding the welfare of the Octorara community’s students and educators.
