MALVERN, PA — The Great Valley School Board has approved the appointment of Dr. Elana Betts as Supervisor of Student Services, a role that will oversee key initiatives supporting student well-being across the district. Her appointment was confirmed during the board’s regular meeting on July 14.
In her new position, Dr. Betts will manage a broad range of services spanning academic, behavioral, emotional, and mental health support. She will also lead efforts related to special education, the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), and a staff that includes school psychologists, counselors, social workers, and sensory support professionals.
“Dr. Betts is a wonderful addition to the Great Valley team,” said Superintendent Dr. Daniel F. Goffredo. “Her extensive background in student services, combined with her passion for creating inclusive educational environments, makes her an ideal leader in our district.”
Dr. Betts brings more than 20 years of experience in school psychology, administration, and equity-focused programming. Most recently, she has served as Administrator on Assignment at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, where she managed regional psychological and mental health services and played a key role in implementing MTSS frameworks and professional development initiatives.
She has also served as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Coordinator at the Intermediate Unit since late 2024, following earlier work co-chairing the organization’s DEI Committee. In 2015, she founded FRAME—Fostering Resiliency through Advocacy, Mentoring, and Education—a nonprofit focused on serving individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, K-12 students, and other marginalized groups.
Dr. Betts holds a Doctorate in Education from Penn State University and a Master’s in School Psychology from Rowan University. She is certified as a School Psychologist and in PK-12 Administration.
She is set to begin her new role this fall, bringing both deep expertise and a demonstrated commitment to student-centered leadership.
