DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A seismic tremor is about to rock Downingtown Middle School as Principal Nicholas Indeglio, professional wrestlers, and a team of teachers battle it out on March 19 in the Rock Raymond Rumble. The famous DMS teacher rock band, Middle School Glory, will be providing the live “soundtrack” throughout the evening
This heavy-hitting, body-slamming, for-the-glory wrestling/rock and roll event will feature the school’s leader, Dr. Indeglio, a.k.a. Zero Gravity, against his longtime arch-nemesis, “Supreme” Lee Great.
As a former superstar in World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW), Indeglio’s lineage includes four cruiserweight title wins along with the prestigious television title. Indeglio will be managed by the Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center principal, “Major” Tom Mulvey.
The one-of-a-kind, unparalleled fundraiser will promote an important cause. “This event will benefit A Gift of Life, which is the nation’s leading organ procurement organization coordinating more organ and tissue donors than anywhere else in the United States,” explained Indeglio. “Our very own academic coach, Mrs. Brown, received a heart transplant with support from A Gift of Life, and she strives to increase awareness and support for this amazing organization. Our family at Downingtown Middle School loves Mrs. Brown and shares her desire to promote this important cause.”
The Rumble at Rock Raymond will also benefit recent transplant recipient, Samu Anoa’i, who has thrilled millions as a WWE Superstar and helped many more in his community as a trainer and path away from the streets. Samu’s passion for teaching youth mirrors the dedication of our DASD teachers, and the team at DMS looks forward to sharing a special night with Samu and the community.
Also doing battle on March 19 will be social studies teacher, coach and former Villanova football standout, Mr. Allyn Bacchus, versus the 6’9” writing teacher, Mr. Long. DMS veteran, Mr. DiVito, will take on science teacher, Mr. Kang, in a special “American Gladiators” style best-of-three competition. They will be accompanied by “The Young Stallions,” Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Wyatt, along with “The Princess and Perspicacity,” Mrs. Lockwood and Mr. Shirley.
Adding to the “rock” in the Rock Raymond Rumble will be DMS’s own legendary rock and roll band, “Middle School Glory,” including performers Mr. Basilio, Mr. Heggie, Dr. Hufford and Mrs. Jackson-Tice, who will provide musical entertainment for the evening.
Former WWE referee and motivational speaker, Marc Hayford, will officiate the event. Jen Babiak, a Broadway performer who was most recently seen in the award-winning “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish,” will be opening the event with the National Anthem.
The emcee for the evening will be actor and performer, Mr. Ron Parson. The district’s own superintendent, Dr. Emilie Lonardi, will even get in on the action as special guest timekeeper.
“This unique event benefits a great cause and has generated a ton of excitement across the district,” remarked Dr. Lonardi. “Principal Indeglio’s commitment to supporting his students and staff, as well as the organization that helped save a staff member’s life, is extraordinary.”
