Sappey Welcomes State Boys Cross Country Champions from Downingtown West High School to State Capitol

HARRISBURG, PA — On Monday, State Rep. Christina Sappey welcomed Downingtown West High School’s boys’ cross-country team, The Whippets, to the Pennsylvania House chamber to commemorate their Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 3A championship title.

The Whippets earned their second PIAA title in five years this month by finishing the competition with 65 points, beating La Salle High School by 19 points.

“I’m very proud to welcome The Whippets to the Capitol to recognize the dedication and determination that earned them this state title,” Sappey said. “My son was a Whippet throughout his four years at Downingtown West High School, so to watch this team continue to succeed is truly incredible for me. I’d like to remind the team that your community is very proud of this accomplishment and we wish you the best of luck as you head to regionals at the end of this month.”
