COATESVILLE, PA — All Coatesville Area School District (CASD) parents/guardians and members of the community are being invited to discuss their recommendations for the district’s next superintendent by attending a focus group facilitated by the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). The focus group will be held on Tuesday, October 11 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. All interested parents, guardians and members of the community are invited to attend.
To assist with the planning of the focus group, attendees are asked to register in advance at www.cciu.org/CASD-parents-community.
Upon registering, attendees will receive a confirmation email containing instructions for joining the October 11 online focus group.
The perceptions, experiences and recommendations of focus group participants will be utilized to develop a candidate profile and interview questions for the next CASD superintendent.
Focus group sessions are being conducted with all district stakeholders, including parents/guardians, staff, high school students and the community. Parents/guardians and staff have been invited to attend focus groups via the district’s email notification system. Students will be notified by their principal.
In the focus groups, participants will be asked to identify the following:
- The qualities of a superior school leader;
- The strengths and skills essential for CASD’s next superintendent to demonstrate;
- The key issues facing the district in the next five years; and,
- The obstacles to student achievement and strategies to overcome those obstacles.
The CCIU was selected by the CASD Board of School Directors to conduct the superintendent search in June 2022, following the announcement by former Superintendent Mr. Tomás Hanna of his resignment. The CCIU does not charge Chester County school districts for this service.
The position is currently being advertised locally and nationally. The deadline for submission of applications is October 14. First-round interviews are scheduled to begin in early November.
