PA Dept. of Education Congratulates 13 Schools Selected As 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools

National Blue Ribbon Schools

HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) congratulated 13 schools in the commonwealth that have been recently selected as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). This award is based on each school’s overall academic performance, or the progress made to close the achievement gap among students.

“The 13 schools recognized by USDE today exemplify what’s best about Pennsylvania’s education system–the educators, IUs, and communities that work cohesively to create strong, healthy learning environments for students,” said Pennsylvania Education Secretary Dr. Noe Ortega. “The Pennsylvania Department of Education congratulates these distinguished schools and thanks them for their outstanding efforts.”

Now in its 39th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has given approximately 10,000 awards to more than 9,000 schools across the nation and more than 420 schools are nominated each year. The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award recognizes the efforts made by schools to create safe and welcoming spaces where students can master challenging and engaging content.
