Freedom Village at Brandywine Resident Scholarship Fund Awards 10 Scholarships to Community Associates

COATESVILLE, PAFreedom Village at Brandywine, a continuing care retirement community, awarded 10 scholarships on Wednesday, May 12, 2022, to employees that work at the community. The 2022 awards were granted to students and graduates of the Downingtown-Coatesville area that have met certain employment qualifications and have demonstrated academic excellence, community service, and a favorable job performance.

The 10 recipients are as follows:

  • Beamlak Abraham, a junior at West Chester University majoring in public health with a minor in political science.
  • Emma K. Auker, an entering freshman at the University of Delaware studying environmental sciences.
  • Andrew G. Gonzalez will be starting as a forensic science major at California University of PA.
  • Devin A. Grey will continue her education at West Chester University with a major in social work.
  • Noella X. Idem will be entering the University of Pennsylvania majoring in biology.
  • Kaicon Jackson-Mack is an entering freshman at Lincoln University studying health sciences.
  • Alexus James is a junior at Millersville University majoring in social service work.
  • Edith Martinez-Ibarra is a junior at Alvernia University majoring in nursing.
  • Samantha Pitcher will start her studies as a psychology major at Penn State-Brandywine.
  • David Reyngoudt will enter Taylor University in Indiana, majoring in Biology on his way into the medical field.

“We are pleased to be able to make these awards to those employees who help make Freedom Village our home,” said Judy Nicolaysen, President of the scholarship corporation and a retired teacher.

The Freedom Village at Brandywine Scholarship Fund is entirely funded by residents living at the community, with the sole purpose of providing scholarship assistance to employees at Freedom Village as they pursue their educational goals. Established in 2006, Freedom Village Brandywine has annually funded scholarships for FVB employees for 17 years, equating to nearly $424,100 in scholarship assistance.
