HARRISBURG, PA — Rep. Eric Roe (R-Chester) encourages students of the 158th District to consider the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency’s (PHEAA) new loan program when pursuing higher education.
The Pennsylvania Forward Student Loan Program is intended to benefit students who need help paying for college after exhausting their eligibility for gift aid, such as the PA State Grant Program, and low-cost federal student loans. It is a borrower-friendly suite of low-cost alternative student loans that will be available to Pennsylvania borrowers, beginning with the 2019-20 academic year.
“Because I know that a strong education can lead to family-sustaining jobs, I voted to make record investments in education at all levels in the two years that I have been serving the 158th District,” Roe said. “It’s rewarding to see the results of those priorities benefit students who may otherwise struggle to attain the education they want.”
PA Forward student loan borrowers can borrow up to the total cost of attendance with competitively low-interest rates. Additional benefits include no application or origination fees, immediate credit approvals and flexible repayment options.
PHEAA is the lender and servicer, with tax-exempt financing provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Pennsylvania joins 20 other states, including New Jersey and Massachusetts, in offering a similar loan program.
