West Chester University Announces Comprehensive Commencement Schedule for Over 3,000 Graduates

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester University is set to honor its spring graduates with an extensive three-day commencement event. Scheduled from Friday, May 10, to Sunday, May 12, the ceremonies will be hosted at the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall and Hollinger Field House, celebrating the achievements of more than 3,000 graduates.

The undergraduate ceremonies are organized by department and College, catering to 2,421 students poised to graduate. Additionally, 777 candidates for graduate degrees will be recognized in two separate ceremonies on Saturday, May 11, segmented by their respective Colleges.

Prior to these commencements, special ceremonies will award distinctive stoles and cords to various graduating populations. Notably, the Kente celebration on Thursday, May 9, will honor the cultural identities of students from diverse backgrounds. The WCU Honors College will also host a service on May 9 to award its graduating students.

For the first time, WCU’s Philadelphia location will conduct commencement ceremonies for its May and August 2024 graduates on Saturday, May 11, at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. These celebrations, along with all campus ceremonies, will be accessible through livestreaming to accommodate additional guests.

Marking a significant milestone, the combined total of graduates for the academic year 2023-2024 reaches 4,365, including both fall and spring commencements.

Every ceremony will begin with a procession 15 minutes prior to its start, requiring tickets for attendees aged three and older. This comprehensive schedule reflects West Chester University’s commitment to celebrating the hard work and success of its students in a manner that acknowledges their diverse achievements and backgrounds.
