Unclaimed Veterans' Remains Honored by Local Motorcyclists

WEST CHESTER, PA — The cremated remains of nine veterans from Chester County, unclaimed by loved ones, are being honored with an Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, hosted by the Chester County Coroner’s Office on August 29th.

Before the ceremony, the 6B Network, a charitable organization of motorcycle enthusiasts, is planning to also honor Chester County’s fallen heroes with a county crossing motorcycle ride, believing that no service person should be left behind or forgotten.

The vision of the 6B Network is to promote positive interactions between the motorcycle community and the general public by donating their time, money and resources to various charities. In recent years, the organization donated over 6,000 pounds of food and over $2,000 to Philabundance through the Preston and Steve campout for hunger. More recently, last month, when the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, at Nemours, requested snacks via their Facebook page, the 6B Network responded in less than 24 hours, filling their shelves full.

Organizers Mike McCarter and Fud Carotenuto are inviting the community to join the motorcycle caravan. To participate, you do not need to be a veteran, nor do you need to ride a motorcycle. All you need is to have respect for our military, veterans, and first responders.

The caravan will begin in the western part of Chester County, leaving the Wawa in Parkesburg, located at the intersection of Routes 10 and 30, on Thursday, August 29th at 11:30 am. Organizers expect to travel east on U.S. Route 30 to U.S. Route 202 North and are plotting the remaining route to keep riders off of the Turnpike.  Additional route details will be released on the organization’s Facebook event page found here.

The Unattended Veterans Service will take place Thursday, August 29th at 2 pm in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. The nine unclaimed veterans from Chester County will receive full military honors.
