Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce Names Reverend Annalie Korengel as Outstanding Citizen of the Year

WEST GROVE, PA — The Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce has selected Reverend Annalie Korengel, pastor of Unionville Presbyterian Church, as its 2019 Outstanding Citizen of the Year for her decades of service to the community. Korengel will be awarded the honor at the 53rd Annual Chairman’s Gala at Longwood Gardens on Saturday, February 22.

“We are thrilled to recognize Reverend Annalie Korengel with this prestigious honor,” said SCCCC President & CEO Cheryl Kuhn. “Reverend Annalie exemplifies everything an outstanding citizen should be, and through her vision, leadership, and generosity, she has greatly advanced the welfare of our community.”

“I am honored to have been chosen as the 2019 Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce,” said Korengel. “I have seen firsthand how the Chamber not only serves its community, but also honors and supports others who do valuable work for our region. I am honored to be in such good company,” continued Korengel.

Korengel holds Masters’ Degrees in Divinity, Social Work, Business Administration, and Human Resources from Palmer Theological Seminary. As the Chaplain for the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, the Kennett Township Police Department, and the Kennett Square Police Department she actively provides emotional support to all police officers as well as the families who have lost loved ones.

She has been a Rotarian for over 18 years and has been the President of three different Rotary Clubs, most recently serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Kennett Square, PA. She also served as President of Family Promise of Southern Chester County, which is a non-profit that works to alleviate homelessness. For years, Korengel has also run grief groups all over Chester County for parents who have lost a child.

Established in 1968, the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award signifies exemplary volunteer efforts, community service, vision, leadership and citizenship of individuals who positively influence the welfare of the Southern Chester County community. Since that time, our community has gathered together annually to honor the men and women, who have served the community in this manner and, in doing so, received this prestigious award for their efforts.
