Phoenixville to Host First ‘Battle of the Breweries’ Blood Drive Competition on the East Coast

Battle of the Breweries

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville, Pennsylvania is the place to be on Monday, Oct. 1 when seven local craft establishments will face off to see who can recruit the most eligible blood donors during an American Red Cross Battle of the Breweries blood drive competition.

The blood drive runs from 2-7 p.m. in the Game Room at Root Down Brewing Company, 1 N. Main St., Phoenixville. Free parking is available behind the brewery, courtesy of Phoenix Village.

Presenting blood donors are invited to cast a vote for their favorite establishment. Participants include Black Walnut Winery, Bluebird Distilling, Conshohocken Brewing Company, Crowded Castle Brewing Company, Rebel Hill Brewing Company, Root Down Brewing Company and Stable 12 Brewing Company. They are joined by Steel City Coffee House and Your Mom’s Place, which will be offering pre-blood drive specials on Oct. 1 to ensure donors are well fed before they give blood.

All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt, while supplies last, as well as a special incentive from the craft establishment for which they cast their vote. Offers and items are non-transferrable and are not redeemable for cash.

Appointments are strongly encouraged. To schedule an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code Battle of the Breweries or call 1-800-REDCROSS.

Phoenixville Battle of the Breweries is the first blood drive of its kind on the East Coast, and only the second in the United States.

“The support from Phoenixville’s business community has been outstanding,” said Alana Mauger, communications manager, Red Cross Penn Jersey Blood Services region. “With nine establishments on board in the first year, we can’t wait to see how this event will grow!”
