PARKESBURG, PA — The Borough of Parkesburg will mark its 150th-year anniversary in 2022 and has plans to host a celebration with the local historical commission as well as local businesses.
The Borough also recently adopted a new revitalization plan with the Chester County Planning Commission. This new plan incorporates the walking trail expansion from Exton to Parkesburg, which will continue to Atglen Borough.
Parkesburg further announced it has conducted various infrastructure updates, including new sidewalks and streetlamps. The Borough is also working on a plan for Parkesburg train station updates, as well as the reconstruction of the West End bridge.
In 2020, several new businesses opened in the Borough, including Planet Fitness and a Reiki Clinic. A coffee shop is projected to open across the street from the Parkesburg Borough Office and a sportsman shop is said to be additionally in the works.
In other Borough news, the South Eastern Pennsylvania Baseball Association, with 50 plus teams in the league, recently named Parkesburg as their home field. The league hosts a large volume of tournaments throughout the year. Parkesburg is a historical town that derived from a steel company and had the Parkesburg Ironmen baseball team; this inspired theBorough to restore the original field, located at Minch Park, of the Ironmen team by 2022.
