WEST CHESTER, PA — The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County, Inc. (CVC) helped more than 50 of its clients, Kindergarten thru College, go “Back to School Shopping with CVC” on Saturday, August 14th. Backpacks, rulers, notebooks, and other school supplies were generously donated by community partners to help area kids start the school year on a positive note.
The Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators spearheaded the school supply drive with donations from area firms and businesses. Their chapter includes more than 95 representatives from law firms of various sizes and encompassing many areas of practice.
“This is the 17th year for the Back to School event. We are so pleased to be able to support this initiative. It was great to see how excited the students were to select items for going back to school” said Amy Coral, Administrator at Troutman Pepper who coordinated the supply drive.
Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union took charge of the backpack donations with the help of collection boxes in the offices of Gawthrop Greenwood, PC, MacElree Harvey Ltd. and Senator Carolyn Comitta’s office. Franklin Mint also surprised the students with a visit from Sister Bear who brought bookmarks, hand sanitizer and treats.
Rob Croll said, “It’s great to see how excited the kids are to pick out their school supplies and fill their backpacks. They’re always so proud to tell us what grade they starting.”
West Chester Borough Police, West Goshen Township Police Department, CVC’s executive leadership, Coral and Croll were present to help the kids pick out their favorite backpack and fill it with everything they need to start the school year.
Christine Zaccarelli, CVC’s CEO shared, “We usually see our clients at time of crisis or turmoil, it is so nice to have the opportunity to see them at a time when they are going back to school shopping and getting excited for the new school year. We are so fortunate to have community partners like the Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators and Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union to provide this experience for our clients.”
