Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County to Receive $125,000 Grant for Land Acquisition, Barrar Says

HARRISBURG, PA — Rep. Eric Roe (R-Chester) announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) met and approved a $125,000 grant for the Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) to purchase 19 acres to extend the White Clay Creek Preserve.

The undeveloped 19 acres to be purchased from Raymond Para and Barbara Kanter abuts the recently acquired Coye property and would further protect tributaries to the Middle Branch of the White Clay Creek.

“This grant will help to provide recreational opportunities for anyone who wishes to enjoy the natural beauty of our area,” Roe said. “And in addition to protecting our environment, families will be able to spend time together in this scenic spot for years to come.”

Both the proposed acquisition and the Coye property provide an extension of the White Clay Creek Preserve. The long-term plan will transfer the ownership of the parcels to the Commonwealth for inclusion in the preserve. TLC is currently in discussions with Pennsylvania’s Parks Department about the transfer plan.

The total project cost is $458,220.

Established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth, the CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.

Correction: In the original version of this article, a grant awarded to the Land Conservancy (TLC) for Southern Chester County was incorrectly identified. The $125,000 grant to purchase 77 acres to connect Kennett Greenway and TLC’s Stateline Woods Preserve, as originally stated, is still pending before the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Instead, the conservancy was awarded $125,000 to purchase 19 acres to protect tributaries to the Middle Branch of the White Clay Creek, which will extend White Clay Preserve.
