Downingtown Is Hiring a Code Enforcement Officer


DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Borough of Downingtown announced it is seeking a full-time, experienced Code Enforcement Officer.

Officials state this is an AFSCME union position with the responsibility of performing plan reviews, field inspections. The Position may require some evening meetings.

Candidates are required to possess a thorough knowledge of conventional construction methods and experience with municipal codes and ordinances pertaining to construction, zoning, property maintenance and the legal aspects of code administration.

The minimum requirements for applicants include:

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or combined five-plus years of work experience in municipal code enforcement, construction or engineering fields;
  • ICC Certification as a building inspector and/or plans examiner and/or Certification as a Building Code Official is highly desirable; and
  • A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
