COATESVILLE, PA — On December 18, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC), members and various community partners gathered to deliver hundreds of gifts for the Veterans at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Now in its 5th straight year, TMACC rallies behind the community to help provide gifts to our veterans.
“I’m really pleased to be able to support TMACC and their effort to help the veterans around the holidays”, said John Durso, Chief Retail Banking Officer of First Resource Bank. First Resource Bank has been a valued supporter of the gift drive, as TMACC collects gifts from its members and community residents at First Resource Bank’s branch locations.
The partnership between TMACC and the VA was developed as a way to give back to the veterans. As many veterans are frequent riders of the Chesco Bus Coatesville Link, the idea and desire to be able to give back locally was imperative.
The Coatesville VA is a major stop along the Coatesville Link route. Over the years, the staff at the VA has recognized the importance of this partnership.“This project with TMACC is unbelievable” said Jennifer Lilly, Chief of Voluntary Service at the Coatesville VA. “…To our veterans, (these gifts) will give them a lot of satisfaction and self-esteem to start over.”
Asked about the initiative, TMACC Executive Director, Tim Phelps, showed a sense of pride. “We are incredibly proud of our TMACC and community members who come together and help create a home for the holidays for our veterans.”
The gifts collected are delivered to the patients at the VA Medical Center as well as to Veterans and their families who receive housing through the Veterans Multi-Service Center’s Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) Program.
The gifts received from the gift drive help families throughout the entire year. The annual gift drive is a program of the TMA of CC Foundation a 501c3, to learn more about the Veterans Gift Drive, TMACC and our Foundation please visit www.tmacc.org.
