Chester County Food Bank and Coatesville VA Create Partnership

Fresh2You Mobile Market

COATESVILLE, PA — The Chester County Food Bank and Coatesville VA recently announced a partnership, bring weekly visits by the Food Bank’s Mobile Market “Fresh2You” to the Coatesville VA Medical Center, reports Digital First Media.

The alliance will help ensure area veterans have access to wholesome and inexpensive produce from local farms and food producers. Moreover,  up to 100 veterans will be enrolled in the Chester County Food Bank’s   “Fruit and Veggie Prescription Program” (FVRx), providing them with the ability to receive free fruits and vegetables at any Fresh2You Mobile Market located across the county.

In addition, Fresh2You volunteers provide cooking demonstrations, highlighting seasonal vegetables. “The live cooking demonstrations offer a great opportunity for veterans to learn new recipes and to be introduced to healthy foods,” stated Meredith Kenny, Assistant Chief of Nutrition and Food Services.

The Fresh2You Mobile Market is a unique food truck, operated from June through November. Making select stops throughout Chester County, the food truck provides farm-to-market fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Also, Fresh2You offers a variety of dried goods which includes beans, grains and special herb and spice blends, plus the very best Chester County sourced honey and eggs.

Nevertheless, Fresh2You is open to everyone and accepts cash, credit/debit, SNAP/EBT and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers. Shoppers who use SNAP/EBT and FMNP receive matching dollars for additional fruits and vegetables at the market.

The Fresh2You Mobile Market is at building 9 on the grounds of the Coatesville VA Medical Center, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Rd, Coatesville, every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other market locations are available during the week and can be found at https://chestercountyfoodbank.org/.
